Kahoot 9 - Natural Science

Good morning sweeties,

This Kahoot deals with our body systems.

Before doing it review the booklet you created in class and unit 1 from Natural Science book.

Trees and plants

Let's  clarify some important concepts in Natural Science...

  • TYPES OF TREE

Deciduous trees change colour and start to fall off in Autumn.

Evergreen trees keep their leaves green all year.

  • NON-FLOWERING PLANTS: Fern and Moss

Do you know that plants are similar to us?

As well as humans plants are living things.
They need water, air, sunlight and soil to grow well.

Moreover, while we have parts of the body, plants also have their parts.

Parts of a plant

Depending on the STEM, we classify plants into three groups:

ANIMALS CAN BE...

Depending on their BACKBONE they can be:

  • Vertebrates: with backbone. 5 types: mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds and fish.

  • Invertebrates: with out backbone. 2 types: mollusks and arthropods.

Depending on what they EAT they can be:

  • Herbivores: they only eat plants.

  • Carnivores: they only eat meat or other animals.

  • Omnivores: they eat plants and meat.

MY BODY

We can say that our body is divided into three parts: the head, the torso and the limbs.

Each one of these parts has got bones, muscles and joints. These photos show the skeleton with some of them.

Super skeleton!

Do you know...
  • What is the main function of the skeleton?
  • Are bones hard or soft?
  • What is the biggest and longest bone?
  • Where is the smallest bone?
  • How many bones do we have?
Try to answer to these questions by watching this interesting video:

How does our body work?

In Natural Science, we are learning about the different body systems. Here you have some videos to review at home.

Simple and Complex machines

Simple machines are machines with one or two parts and they change direction of a force such a push or pull. There are 6 different types of simple machines.

Complex machines are made by many simple machines that work together.

Vertebrates and Invertebrates

Welcome back!!!

This term we start reviewing some concepts about the animal world. For instance, what is a vertebrate animal? and an invertebrate?

The 5 senses

Hi hi! Look at the poster and watch the video. After that, write down a list with the things that you are able to feel using each of the 5 senses.

We will check that list during the next Science lesson.

Bones and muscles

Hi dear students,
In Science we have started to learn about our body, specially we are working with our bones and muscles.
Here you have a video to watch at home. Next day I will ask some questions to you!
As the video is a bit long, I summarize the most important ideas:

  • Bones are hard and they are made of calcium.
  • All bones are connected by joints to form the skeleton.
  • The femur is the largest bone.
  • Muscles are soft and they expand and contract moving our body.
  • The smallest muscle is inside our ear.
  • Your bones and muscles will grow in good condition if you: eat heatlhy, do exercise and maintain a correct posture.
